Abstract

Catequil, an Andean god who predicted the future, lived on the summit of Chimborazo. But no one knew it. Although in the nearby villages it was said that spirits and gods lived in that mountain. Furthermore, a legend told that God had finished the creation of the world by raising the Chimborazo. And this, so that some Andean divinities would settle on the highest peak of the region to watch over his work. To observe men. To protect Mother Earth: "Pachamama". To take care of Mother Moon: "Mama Quilla".
