Abstract

To unravel the magical and invisible message of the texts means, in the language of the school, to understand what the books say. Understanding what is read is a crucial process for the academic success of students throughout the development of teaching and learning in both primary and secondary schools. Not only because it is necessary within the language subject, but because it is the basis for all other subjects. The student must understand what he or she reads in order to study any subject. Furthermore, understanding what he or she reads will increase his or her chances of continuing with university studies and, in general, of entering professional life (Treviño et al, 2007). The understanding of a text is achieved when the reader constructs meanings from the interaction with it (Treviño et al, 2007). The intention of this article is to help teachers to design, create and use activities that privilege the discovery of the message of reading, the understanding of what is read.
