Abstract

The importance of reading in education is a subject that is becoming more and more topical. Above all, by knowing the shortcomings in the formation of students in general, but especially at the level of the baccalaureate. This problem became more noticeable in the results of the tests applied for university entrance. Well, this alert has generated an immediate reaction in search of solutions on the march of the educational fact. Finding, immediately, in reading a strategy to generate significant learning. It is therefore urgent to develop in students the competencies and abilities for the efficient use of reading. This is not only in basic general education and the baccalaureate, but also in the third level. That academic and professional training is ultimately the indicator of the success of an education system. Thus, the supreme importance of reading in education is no longer under discussion. What should concern us teachers is the search for methodologies that permit the efficient use of reading in the teaching-learning process. From the beginning of formal education, the human being begins to learn and develop the reading competence, it depends on the direction that this has to turn it into a fundamental resource in the formative process of the student. This article, therefore, focuses on the use that can be given to reading both in the classroom and in family and social environments.
