Abstract

To understand the essence of service to the human being above the capital as the factor that energizes the conception of popular and solidarity economy, enlarges the challenge of promoting the development of a system identified with an eminently social vision, which motivates inclusion and promotes the permanent generation of opportunities from a model that exceeds the traditional conception that has interpreted human development exclusively linked to economic progress. The solidarity model defends an integral vision that associates it closely to the democratization of social coexistence, to the improvement of people's quality of life and to the need to add efforts to turn individual weaknesses into cooperative strengths. Along these lines, cooperative education occupies a fundamental space in the construction of responsible citizenship, since it is considered an optimal mechanism that provides tools so that people have the capacity to preserve their rights as consumers of the services offered by the entities of the popular and supportive financial sector, by providing them with basic inputs for decision making with increasingly didactic and technically adequate information, allowing society to incorporate itself into a process of financial literacy that gradually grants a greater capacity to achieve a fairer, freer and more egalitarian society.
