Growing up playing: the virtues of play as an educational tool

Abstract

Play and learning: since always, two concepts strongly interwoven with each other, given the inexhaustible source of the teaching-learning dialectic, represented by the game. We are led to think that play is a simple pastime, a moment of fun that is akin to itself; but we have dismissed it in terms of its value and meaning: despite different pedagogical contributions think otherwise. Describing what play is, and play as a source of learning, is an arduous task. Perhaps, as much as it would be to describe what love, freedom, or the universe is.
