Abstract

When I entered the UNAE as a teacher of the Shuar Chicham and Aproximación Diagnóstica chairs with the first cycle EIB students in April 2017, I had the idea that I should be subject to rigid and inflexible working models in search of academic achievements of excellence. A pleasant surprise was the humanism that is promoted in the UNAE. It allows us to offer alternative and innovative learning, in accordance with the Pedagogical Model and that of the Pre-professional Practices, whose foundation tries to theorize practice and gives substantial relevance to "learning by doing". In this context, the subjects of Shuar Chicham and Diagnostic Approach make the experience direct in the Shuar communities of the Amazon, where the students have the pedagogical and cultural coexistence tour, in which they are involved in the life of the students, teachers and parents of the CECIB of the Shuar nationality of the Intercultural Bilingual Education System. In the article I explain the importance that the university assigns to the ancestral knowledge of the Shuar culture.
