Abstract

The Trascender Foundation is located in Santiago de Cali - Colombia. It was created in 2000 as an open entity with the purpose of training leaders with principles and values, benefiting children and young people from high social risk sectors in the Department of Valle del Cauca. In a period of eight years, with the support of a group of researchers, the foundation created its own pedagogical model that, through art, allows children to acquire social competencies from eight spaces of expression called works. To guarantee its processes in the long term, strategic alliances have been made with companies in the region and with educational institutions, where the pedagogical and social program called Trascender is part of the school day. This process is accompanied by work with their affective circle, teachers and families, strengthening emotional ties and assertive communication. The Trascender Foundation has worked with more than 390 teachers, 4,800 children, young people and their families who have participated in our different programs. The Trascender program, focused on the formation of values and citizenship skills through art, is made up of two components: Pedagogical component: developed in four spaces of artistic expression: music, theatre, plastic arts, literature, a space for cultural manifestation: historical/cultural-social, a space for new technologies: computer science, a space for strategy: chess Social component: where the work with parents and teachers is developed The children participate in the social work that strengthens the family nucleus from their criteria.
